John Tallman
Multi Media Artist Based in Philadelphia
Stirring paint, mixing urethane plastic, pouring color, applying layers. The tactile experience is ever present in John Tallman's Art. Whether its watercolor ink, acrylic paint or pigmented urethane plastic John's exploration involves the endless combinations to be found in form, space and color. With love and attention to the material possibilities of each medium, John works in an abstract or nonobjective art style that allows for open readings into his art practice. John's most recent exhibition at Gray Contemporary in Houston called "Paintings From A Room" was an investigation into the themes of the Everyday and rejuvenation, one person's attempt to come to grips with Covid-19 and the fallout in caused.
Whereas "Paintings From A Room", was about inward and confined to interior spaces, John's current project involves a more expanded focus into the local landscape and beyond. A key component to that is strapping on a backpack
and working "en plein air".
John has exhibited in venues throughout the world including the Drawing Center and the famed OK Harris Gallery in New York. Always interested in connection through art, John has curated abstract art exhibitions for galleries, universities and art fairs, including Art Athena in Athens, Greece.
